The recovery from adrenal exhaustion has mainly two components.

They are Stress Management and Nutritional Management. In other words achieving Mind and Body balance resolves adrenal exhaustion and will see tremendous benefits in overall improvements in health.

Stress Management

1. Start looking at positive aspects of life and focus on positive rather than negative as much as possible. Focusing on negativity puts body in alert mode even though one is not fighting any battles. It is the unfortunate evolutionary conditioning of the human beings. Even though one is sitting in an office environment and battles are not life threating like the one our ancestors had to go through confronting a predator, our response is a similar one which is Fight or Flight. Adrenal glands pay a heavy price if this is not changed. So, to embark on recovery, one has to always keep a positive attitude, no matter what!

2. Practice deep breathing. It is an antidote to fight or flight response and is the fastest way to trigger parasympathetic nervous system which is relaxing to the whole body. Breathe deep with your belly and not shallow with your chest.

3. Meditate. Be in the present moment. Let go of the thoughts of the past or future which are just the constructs of the mind and are not reality. The only reality is the present moment and cherish the life by paying attention to it and not ignoring it with unnecessary mind chatter which fogs the present moment.

4. Exercise moderately which brings down adrenaline that has been pumped by adrenal glands as a stress response. If this is not brought down, it keeps harming the body. Exercise also triggers the release of growth hormone and endorphins bringing in a sense of balance.

Nutritional Management

Nutrition is a very broad subject and needs careful study, understanding, appreciation and application.

Nutritional components for chronic fatigue recovery can be understood as a combination of

Energy Nutrients

Hormonal System Rectifiers

Vitamins and Minerals

Digestive Enzymes, Probiotics and Sea Salt

Adrenal glands are two small triangle shaped endocrine glands that sit on top of the kidneys. These are the glands that let us deal with Stress of life, no matter what the nature of that stress may be. They pump hormones that raise the heart rate, raise the blood glucose levels and redirect the blood flow, adjust the blood pressure so that one can be ready to face the Fight or Flight situation of dealing with stress. When one is under the relentless unresolved stressors for prolonged periods of time, Adrenal glands get exhausted in meeting the demands of the life.

Adrenal exhaustion is one of the primary reasons of Chronic Fatigue. Medical establishment recognizes only the near complete failure of these glands which is termed Addison’s disease. The famous person in history to be with this disease was John F. Kennedy whose Adrenal glands failed to produce enough hormones that he needed cortisone treatments.

The problem the Chronic Fatigue sufferers face is that their Adrenal glands are functional to the extent that it goes undetected by the medical establishment to offer any needed help. It may take generations before the parameters are adjusted to offer any help to these unfortunate sufferers. What they need is only a little help to bring them back to fully normal functioning. Their Stress glands are stressed out and exhausted and need a little help to get back up and running again!

In reality, having no solution from medical establishment in this situation in fact works in favor of the sufferer and should be considered a fortunate blessing. It opens the doors to frontiers of exploration of fascinating aspects of whole health in general which changes the course of one’s life for the better. But, be aware that this journey requires thirst for knowledge, confidence and determination to succeed under any circumstances.

This is the beginning of a series of posts on the subject of Chronic Fatigue.

People get tired from time to time for various reasons. Usually, the fatigue is transitory and is overcome with rest. Chronic Fatigue by definition means the fatigue that is not transitory and is not going away unless the real problem for which it started is identified and fixed. Conventional medical science brushes it off as tiredness that has no cure as they are more interested in managing the symptoms rather than fixing the real problem for which people become fatigued in the first place. In fact, they say there is no such thing as Chronic Fatigue, so the individuals are left with finding a solution to the problem themselves.

People in such a situation are actually blessed with an incredible opportunity to learn and educate themselves about the whole aspect of health from various angles that can indeed transform their lives and bring back a good quality of life as a result of the whole experience.

Let us embark on this fascinating journey to understand the human body, it’s components, processes in lay man’s terms so as to educate ourselves in as simple terms as possible. By the end of this journey, if we can get enough understanding of the issues for which we lose health in general and what we can do about it, it will be a great accomplishment!
