People work to make a living i.e. for survival. Survival is not easy. It was never easy and will never be easy. It’s just the way due to intense nature of mechanics of survival. Will you let some one else feed their kids while your kids are starving? It’s simply not possible.
It takes knowledge and skills to find a job. When you cannot update your skill set to be competitive in a changing job market, it brings insecurity which will force you to seek some kind of security by playing politics so as to protect mutual interests.
What to do in such circumstances?
Simply observe that people are acting to protect their self interests. Do your best to fulfill the tasks that are assigned to you in a timely manner and always be positive. Inefficiency and politics will not take people too far without having the right qualifications and skill set. Such people will end up paying for their wrong doings. There may be a new management that may not agree with the status quo or myriad other things that can detect negative attitudes of people and ultimately only people who are aligned with right goals will be able to succeed. Be patient and mindful of your activities and things will take care of themselves.
Life itself originated from non living things several millions of years ago. Primary purpose of life at the biological level is to sustain, survive and pass on the genes. We may assume, give various meanings to the purpose of life but at the fundamental level, we are no different from various other species on the planet and it all boils down to the jungle fight of survival even in the modern civilization that we live in.
As the humanity came a long way in evolution, it is much more a complex and subtle fight for survival now than that would have appeared to be a normal process several thousands of years ago. In an era when individual liberties are almost non existent and societal institutions dictate the life situations to a large extent, how can one find a sense of survival where the struggle is so ruthless though it appears so civilized but at the same time so stifling.
To simplify things, I divide the survival for struggle into two major parts. One is the body, which represents the primary biological vehicle without which we are non existent. The second is the mind which controls our behavior.
